The CS Environment and Forestry officially inaugurated the new KEFRI board on 10th July 2019 at KEFRI HQ, in Muguga. Hon. Tobiko emphasised the need for KEFRI to provide the country with quality tree seeds towards achieving the country’s tree cover target of 10% by 2022.
Forests form part of the foundation that sustains the country’s economy, the CS urged the new board to focus and align the organisation’s activities towards achieving the government Big four agenda and come up with clear policy guidelines aimed at attaining the intended forest cover, and ensure close working linkages with the county government to ensure strengthened devolved function within the environment ministry.
