Mr Hussein is a dynamic professional forester, a natural resource manager and also an expert in project planning and management. He has over 24 years of progressive career growth in KFS, where he is currently working as Assistant Chief Conservator of Forest in-charge of Farm Forestry Department, and the Project Manager National Tree Planting Campaign (NTPC) Project.

He holds; M.A. Project Planning and Management, University of Nairobi Kenya; B.SC. Natural Resource Management, Egerton University Kenya; Diploma in Designing Sustainable Forest Landscapes, Food Security and REDD+, University of Helsinki Finland; and Certificate Sustainable Forest Management, German Forest Society Germany.

Over the years Mr Hussein has horned his technical, managerial and leadership skills, enabling him to make significant contributions not only within KFS but also to the larger Kenya’s forest sector. His key contributions at the strategic and policy level include; Preparation of the National Strategy for achieving and maintaining the minimum 10% tree cover, and the National Forest Programme (NFP). Mr. Hussein also played a critical role in revitalization and transformation of the Forestry Society of Kenya (FSK), where he served a Council Member from 2010 to 2016, and the current National Vice Chairman.

Over the years Mr Hussein has horned his technical, managerial and leadership skills, enabling him to make significant contributions not only within the confines of KFS but also to the larger Kenya’s forest sector. His key contributions at the strategic and policy level include; Preparation of the National Forest Programme (NFP), where he served as not only a member of the thematic cluster teams that produced the main contents of the Programme, but also as a member of the Technical Committee that reviewed, and finalized the NFP. He is a member of the Secretariat that is currently preparing the National Strategy for achieving the 10% Tree Cover by 2022. Mr. Hussein also played a critical role in revitalization and transformation of the Forestry Society of Kenya (FSK), where he served a Council Member from 2010 to 2016, and also the current National Vice Chairman.
